Thanksgiving Fit for a Celiac!
It’s nearly Thanksgiving! Soon, many families will be gathering around the table to share a wonderful holiday feast. Succulent turkey, flavorful stuffing, buttery rolls, and mouth-watering pie. But what about the celiac who wants to enjoy the holiday meal?
The traditional Thanksgiving meal includes many foods that are full of gluten, many you might not have thought of. While turkey is gluten-free, the liquids used to bast it, or the gravy, often contain gluten. Rolls and other breads, not to mention pie crust, also may contain gluten.
To accommodate your gluten-intolerant guests, or if you’re interested in alternatives, Apple’s is here to help! We offer a variety of ready made gluten-free holiday goodies for everyone to enjoy. Stop in to the store or visit our home on the web for online ordering: Apple's Bakery Online Store.
I’d also like to share the following gluten-free recipes, perfect for the Thanksgiving meal:

Another Satisfied Customer!
A customer recently purchased Apple's gluten-free baked goods for a bridal shower and had nothing but great things to say:
"The baked goods were a smashing success at the shower. The chocolate cake was fantastic and the coconut cookies disappeared on the second pass around the table, and that was after everyone had had cake and ice cream. One of the attendees was staying with a friend who has a gluten-free hubby, and the friend just emailed me for your website address. Many, many thanks."
A Partnership to Treasure
Apple’s has officially partnered with Treasure Island Foods in the Chicago area! The store will stock Apple’s delicious gluten-free baked goods.
Treasure Island has been a Chicagoland staple grocery store since 1963, when the first store opened. The market was created with the mission to “provide a supermarket that would combine the conventional with the best of specialty, imported and domestic products at competitive prices.” The late chef Julia Child referred to Treasure Island as “the most European supermarket in America.”
I am excited at the opportunity to provide my gluten-free products to the Chicago area. Stay tuned for future Apple’s sampling events at Treasure Island stores.

The Richness of a Baking Friendship
Each and every work day, delicious gluten-free bakery products are produced in our dedicated gluten-free kitchen, not only for the Apple’s staff to munch during coffee breaks, but for you, our customers, to enjoy with family and friends. As a professional baker, my personal contact with you, our family of customers, is often limited to the point of purchase. I’m thrilled on those occasions when I can share a conversation with a customer, often while they’re enjoying one of my cookies. I realize how rich my life is, not because of new recipes or ingredients, but from the friendships I’ve created through my baked goods.

It brings me great pleasure to introduce my friend Estelle Chandler, Apple’s Bakery’s new gluten-free kitchen Vice President of Sales and Celiac. As an epicurean baker and 22-year gluten-free celiac, Estelle has been instrumental in honing our gluten-free formulas so they’re the best in taste.
Prior to Apple’s, Estelle worked as a consultant and vice president of research and development for a leading food company. She is licensed with ServSafe Certification Management Training and certified in Food Service Sanitation by both the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Estelle also worked for retail giants Nordstrom and Banana Republic, and her results-oriented sales approach created record sales accomplishments while delivering the best customer service to her clients. It will be Estelle’s initial primary role to develop the vendor relation program between Apple’s Bakery’s gluten-free kitchen and Chicagoland’s Treasure Island Foods.
Estelle and I are passionate about taking care of people - especially those with food intolerances. We believe your mouth will dance in delight while enjoying our gluten-free “smiles made from scratch.” I am a firm believer that taste and friendship make a person’s life rich and full. As an individual, I am blessed to have been granted both in my life. As a business owner, I am blessed to offer both to you. Here’s to believing in great taste.
